App State Tennis Bounces Back with 4-1 Win Over Dartmouth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The App State tennis team defeated Dartmouth 4-1 on Saturday in a strong performance.
 
What Happened
App State got off to a hot start, earning the doubles point. Savannah Dada-Mascoll and Isabela Romanichen dominated their match, winning 6-1. Naledi Manyube and Olwyn Ryan-Bovey quickly followed, securing the doubles point for the Mountaineers with a 6-3 win. Ruby Broadbent and Taya Powell were leading 4-3 when play was halted, as the doubles point had already been clinched.
 
Dada-Mascoll remains perfect at 7-0 from the No. 1 spot after a hard-fought three-set win over Dartmouth's Peyton Capuano. After dropping the second set, Dada-Mascoll bounced back to win the third 6-3, clinching the victory for the Mountaineers.
 
Romanichen bounced back from her first singles loss against Charlotte with a resilient three-set win at the No. 2 spot. After a tough 0-6 loss in the first set, she rallied to win the next two sets 7-5, 6-3, improving her record to 6-1 on the season, all from the No. 2 position.
 
Manyube and Ryan-Bovey had their matches ended early after Dada-Mascoll's win, with Manyube trailing 5-6 in the third set and Ryan-Bovey leading 6-5 in the third.
 
Up Next
The Mountaineers will begin Sun Belt play in Norfolk, Va., against Old Dominion on March 8. Play is set to begin at 10 a.m.
