BURLINGTON, N.C. — App State Women's Golf topped a record-setting fall debut with even more history-making performances at the Elon Invitational, which concluded Tuesday with the Mountaineers tying for third place in a 14-team field at Alamance Country Club.
Freshman lefty
Zoe Duval, who used an eagle on the par-5 17th hole to hold the lead with eight holes to play, finished one stroke behind the individual medalist to tie for second place. App State tied Radford for third place in the team standings, finishing eight shots behind co-champions Elon and James Madison.
The Mountaineers set or matched program records in four of the most significant statistical categories during the event:
Team record — 18 holes
App State posted an 8-under team score of 276 in the final round, breaking the old record of a 3-under 285 from the final round of the 2017 Sun Belt Championship. Feshman
Alisa Pressley (4-under 67),
Ona Lukes (3-under 68), Duval (1-under 70) and
Salem Lee (even-par 71) contributed to the 8-under total, which was the best round of the tournament from any of the 14 teams.
Team record — 54 holes
App State finished with a 12-over total of 296-292-276—864, breaking the old record of 873 set just eight days earlier at the GolfWeek Fall Challenge to begin the 2025-26 season.
Individual record – 54 holes
Duval's 2-under total of 70-71-70—211 broke the old 54-hole record of a 1-under 215 from Joliana Elias on a par-72 layout at the 2017 Sun Belt Championship.
Individual record — 18 holes
Pressley's 4-under 67 on Tuesday included seven birdies and matched the 4-under 67 that Lukes had recorded to open the GolfWeek Fall Challenge the previous weekend. Lukes' 3-under 68 on Tuesday is the third-lowest round in program history.
Duval, who also held the outright lead during the second round, tied for 21st in the fall opener and has posted a score of 71 or better in five of her six collegiate rounds. Radford's Mckenzie Weddle won the tournament with a 3-under total of 210.
Maria Pinedo (74-72-73—219, 6 over) and Pressley (79-73-67—219, 6 over) tied for 16th place, while Lukes (76-77-68—221, 8 over) tied for 32nd and Lee tied for 40th (76-76-71—223, 10 over).
Playing as individuals, freshman
