App Family,
As the first signs of fall appear on the mountain, the 2025-26 season is in full swing.
We ask App Nation to join us in Supporting Coach Clark & Family
Please send your thoughts and prayers for Shawn Clark, Jonelle and their entire family following Shawn's medical emergency last week.
We have been in touch with Jonelle and other members of Shawn's family, and with their permission, are sharing a link to the
Clark Family Meal Train page, where you can learn how to help support the Clark family.
I know the entire App Family is behind Shawn, rooting for his recovery and surrounding Jonelle and their children with love and support.
Football
- A sea of Black and Gold made a significant impact in the team's 34-11 season-opening win against Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium in head coach Dowell Loggains' debut.
- App Nation showed up for the home opener against an FCS opponent the following week when 34,921 fans – the seventh-largest crowd in Kidd Brewer Stadium history – watched the Mountaineers improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2019.
- The result in the league opener at Southern Miss was not the outcome we wanted, but I have been encouraged by our coaching staff and student-athletes' hard-working response, as well as the loyal support from donors who are committed to the football program's pursuit of championship excellence.
Fall Sports Highlights
- Volleyball: 7-2 with two tournament championships, an ACC win against Virginia and competitive losses to Michigan State and No. 25 North Carolina. This weekend, they have a pair of big home matches to close the nonconference season with Duke visiting on Friday and Davidson on Sunday. Get your tickets now and come support head coach Chad Sutton's team at the Holmes Center!
- Field Hockey: The back-to-back MAC Champions are 4-1 with their only loss to No. 2 UNC. Head coach Emily Dinsmore's squad opens conference play at home Friday against Ohio at 3 p.m. Admission is free at Dr. Jan C. Watson Field at the Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field Hockey Complex.
- Soccer: 3-0 start included the first Power Five win since 2016 against the Miami Hurricanes. Head coach Aimee Haywood's team opened Sun Belt play last week with a 1-1 draw against a quality Old Dominion squad. Upcoming free admission home matches include Sunday against Louisiana and next Friday (Sept. 26) against South Alabama.
- Cross Country: The men's and women's cross country teams are off to strong starts against very competitive fields as they both seek to repeat as Sun Belt Champions in November.
Upcoming at The Rock
Our fall sports have kicked off the year with great success, and we're excited to welcome App Nation back to The Rock for the Oct. 4 matchup against Oregon State. We are committed to bringing quality home opponents to Boone and giving our fans the chance to witness exciting football and experience world-class game days on the mountain.
Fans can look forward to:
- The return of Yosef ziplining onto the field
- Expanded concessions and merchandise options
We recognize the sound system impacted the game day experience during the home opener. We have heard and value the feedback of our fans who attended. Please know that improvements are underway for the remainder of the season.
Let's keep the energy high and make The Rock an unforgettable atmosphere.
Secure your football tickets and be part of one of the best home-field advantages in the country!
