ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The App State tennis team secured a decisive 5-2 victory over UNC Asheville on Sunday, improving their season record to 5-2.
What Happened
The Mountaineers got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point against the Bulldogs (5-2).
Savannah Dada-Mascoll and
Isabela Romanichen delivered a dominant performance, winning 6-3. Manyube and Ryan-Bovey also kept their doubles record undefeated, clinching a 6-2 win to give App State a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Dada-Mascoll, still unbeaten in singles from the No. 1 spot, earned her sixth consecutive singles victory with a straight-set win, 6-1, 6-3. She also celebrated a milestone with her 100th career win, which came after her doubles triumph.
Romanichen continued her perfect singles run, also from the No. 2 spot, winning in straight sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. This marks her fifth consecutive singles win, and she's now 4-2 in doubles, currently on a two-match win streak.
Despite losses from Ryan-Bovey and Broadbent, Manyube secured the team's fourth point, clinching the overall victory for App State.
Alexi Cleveland added to the total, sealing a 5-2 win for the Mountaineers.
Up Next
The Mountaineers will travel to Charlotte on Friday for a match set to begin at 1 p.m. They will then stay in Charlotte to face Dartmouth the following day.
